Gorilla 76 is looking for intern Designer candidates. As part of the Digital Creative Department, you’ll be responsible for working closely with our Digital Creative Director and other teammates to deliver design work for both our clients and ourselves. You will gain tremendous agency experience.

Your role

This internship entails designing digital advertisements, editorial imagery, email templates and imagery, webpage layouts and other miscellaneous content. While this job does involve brainpower and critical thinking, its main focus is on execution and delivery. No coding knowledge required, but a basic understanding of HTML/CSS and WordPress is very helpful. Some travel is possible.

Your primary key accountabilities will include:

  • Creative execution
  • Quality assurance and quality control

What that looks like:

  • Working with our team to design digital advertisements, editorial imagery, email templates and imagery, webpage layouts and other miscellaneous content
  • Maintaining and upholding client’s brands and related standards online
  • Staying current with the latest trends and research in the digital marketing space
  • Whatever else is needed to make Gorilla and our team stronger

Within the Digital Creative Department, you’ll work closely with the Digital Creative Director as well as our Developer, to execute your duties. You’ll also work to resolve issues, define processes and better your teammates. 

What that looks like: 

  • Meeting weekly as a department to identify and work through issues
  • Diving into professional development opportunities
  • Sharing wins and challenges with the team
  • Owning your responsibilities for the department

Putting your role into perspective

You'll work closely with the Digital Creative Director. Per his direction, you will execute design work for Gorilla and our clients. You'll be a stone-cold executioner. While there's certainly room for you to use your brain, we need muscle first and foremost in this role. This is not a fit for those who don't like doing the dirty work.

Within three months you’ll...

  • Have finished your onboarding and training
  • Learn how to use our tech stack
  • Met with all department directors

  • Be doing day-to-day design work for all clients
  • Attend monthly State of Gorilla meetings
  • Gain an understanding of Gorilla’s workflow
  • Set goals, professional and personal, for the rest of your year 

Within six months you’ll…

  • Own a full portfolio of client work
  • Have earned the trust of your team and Digital Creative Director
  • Have built lasting relationships with your fellow Gorillas - yes, even as an intern!
  • Feel comfortable in owning your role and work

Within one year you’ll…

  • Be ahead of most in your field of study

The person

  • Is currently a sophomore or junior design student
  • Portfolio of work demonstrating your ability to excel in this role
  • Strong typography and layout skills

  • Proficiency in Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
  • Is a motivated self-starter who may not always have all of the information to get the job done but will figure it out
  • Is empathetic and understanding in interactions with clients and internal team members.
  • Is a confident multitasker and can evaluate priorities with an attention to detail
  • Juggles many projects at once, works well cross-functionally, and never loses sight of goals
  • Communicates expectations to team members in a timely and clear fashion
  • Puts school first, puts work a very close second
