Gorilla 76 is always looking for full-time developer candidates. As part of the Digital Creative department, you’ll be responsible for ensuring complete and accurate web development for all marketing efforts, as well as ensuring all websites are optimized for lead generation, data collection and analysis. This is a highly technical role.

Your role


As previously mentioned, you’ll be responsible for complete and accurate web development for all marketing efforts - both for clients and for Gorilla. Additionally, it’s very important that all websites are optimized for lead generation, data collection and analysis. We want someone who will stay on top of the changes in the digital industry to optimize our and our clients' online footprint, and help keep Gorilla at the forefront of web marketing. 


What that looks like:


  • Developing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing all current and future web pages
  • Ensuring all websites are strong lead generation and data collection tools
  • Managing structure of online data collection efforts for both Gorilla 76 and clients
  • Working closely with strategists in data analysis efforts
  • Modifying websites to ensure optimal lead generation and data collection
  • Adhering to project schedules and effectively reporting progress to meet challenging deadlines
  • Investigating possible issues, including technical problems with websites, lead generation, data collection, analytics and tracking pixels
  • Collaborating with various team members to proactively optimize and expand sites
  • Interpreting designs and transforming them into cross-platform web projects
  • Effectively collaborating with designers and other team members throughout the project
  • Estimating work for a project and turning it into executable tasks
  • Developing WordPress themes and/or plugins using PHP on the backend
  • Writing modular and performant code on the frontend
  • Communicating professionally with technical and non-technical colleagues and clients
  • Deploying changes to live servers using CI/CD process
  • Staying up to date with the latest standards and trends in the marketing space
  • Whatever else is needed to make Gorilla and our team stronger


Putting your role into perspective


You'll be actively developing and maintaining client projects as well as Gorilla 76’s internal and external projects. You'll work primarily with PHP, HTML, CSS and JavaScript. It's important that you're comfortable writing maintainable, scalable and performant code for the frontend and backend. You’ll work closely with our Digital Creative Director.


Within three months you’ll...


  • Have finished your onboarding and training
  • Have learned how to use our tech stack
  • Have met with all department directors
  • Have attended monthly State of Gorilla meetings
  • Have gained an understanding of Gorilla’s overall workflow and development workflow
  • Have set goals, professional and personal, for the rest of your year 


Within six months you’ll…


  • Own a robust portfolio of client work
  • Have built lasting relationships with fellow Gorillas, partners and clients
  • Feel comfortable in owning your role and work
  • Be able to submit code to projects and make changes to live sites


Within one year you’ll…


  • Be an expert in your role
  • Own development projects for clients and Gorilla 76
  • Develop internal Gorilla 76 coding projects, maintaining existing ones as well
  • Provide technical details


The person


  • Has a minimum of four years of experience working in development
  • Has a keen eye for detail
  • Is a self-starter who may not always have all of the information needed to get the job done but will figure it out
  • Has a strong understanding of HTML and CSS including accessibility, cross-browser compatibility and performance
  • Has the ability to write modern JavaScript using tools such as Gulp or Webpack
  • Is proficient in PHP, specifically for WordPress as a platform
  • Able to perform server maintenance
  • Knowledge of DNS and web hosting
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
